AI Chip Startup Etched Doubles Valuation to $10.3B

Etched has raised $300 million in funding, doubling its valuation and attracting major investors.

Etched Inc., an AI chip startup, has successfully raised $300 million in a Series C funding round, doubling its valuation to $10.3 billion. The round was led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from notable investors including SK Hynix, Andreessen Horowitz, Jane Street, and Diffusion Capital. This significant increase in valuation comes just seven months after the company was valued at $5 billion during a previous funding round. Etched specializes in chips optimized for artificial intelligence inference, allowing for more efficient processing compared to traditional GPUs. The company claims that its technology can operate at higher clock frequencies without the thermal limitations faced by conventional graphics cards. Etched plans to begin shipping its first systems this summer, supported by a new production line established in a facility near its headquarters in San Jose, California. The growing interest in specialized AI hardware underscores the increasing demand for efficient solutions in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
